Lisåyu is the Chamorro word for the catholic rosary, the prayers and the actual string of beads used in counting the prayers. I've made many of these over time, and a couple different types as well. Here are a few pictures of them, and some short descriptions of them. More to come, as I'm still attempting to find the rest of the pictures.
This is a rosary I made out of gold ringer cowries, snake head cowries, an ifil wood cross and for the center pendant a Hawai'ian opihi (limpet) shell.
This is a rosary I made out of bilen (job's tears: smaller grey seeds), kulåles (jumbie bean: red seeds), and pakao (larger grey seed).
This rosary I made out of kulåles hålom tåno' (coral seed/bird's eye seed: red&black seeds) seeds on white cotton thread.
